School Rules and Regulations

1. Pupils’ Attire

 

1.1       All pupils are to wear the prescribed school uniform and modifications to the uniform is not allowed.

 

1.2       All pupils are to wear white shoes and white socks to school.

 

1.3       All pupils can come to school in PE attire on days when they have their PE lessons. P3 to P6 girls must change into their school skirts during recess.

 

1.4       All pupils (except for those in Uniformed Groups) are to be in their PE attire every Friday for CCA. Pupils in Uniformed Groups should attend their CCA in their respective CCA uniforms and change into their PE attire/school uniform after CCA.

 

1.5       Spectacles (if worn) should be plain and not have fanciful coloured frames.

2. Hair and Appearance

 

2.1       Pupils are to be neatly groomed at all times.

 

2.2       All pupils are not to wear make-up or accessories to school.

 

2.3       Pupils are not allowed to dye their hair or paint their nails.

 

2.4       Hair should be neat at all times and hair fringe should not cover the eyes.

 

2.5       All boys must be clean shaven and should not wear sideburns, beards or moustache.

 

2.6       Boys’ hair must not touch the ears, eyebrows and the shirt collar.

 

2.7       Girls with hair touching the collar should have their hair tied up neatly at all times. Simple hair clips or ribbons of dark blue or black in colour may be used.

 

3. Attendance and Decorum

 

3.1       Attendance at the Flag Raising and Flag Lowering Ceremonies or Pledge-Taking is compulsory for all pupils.

 

3.2       Pupils who areSingaporeCitizens must sing the National Anthem and take the pledge. Pupils will take the pledge with the right fist placed over the heart.

 

3.3       Pupils must be punctual for school, for school activities.

 

3.4       All pupils are to behave and abide by the school and class rules. Their behaviour and attitude must reflect the school’s core values.

 

3.5       School work is to be handed in on time.

 

3.6       After arrival in school, no pupil is allowed to leave the school without the permission of his/her class teacher/Principal. 

 

3.7       In the event that a pupil needs to leave the school earlier due to illness or urgent personal matters, only his/her parent/guardian, caregiver or an adult who is related will have to fetch the pupil from school. Pupils are required to obtain permission to leave school earlier than the normal school hours.  Parents are required to sign out their children from the General Office before leaving the school.

 

3.8       All pupils are not allowed to bring expensive items to school.

 

4. Arrival in School

 

When the first bell rings at 7.05am, all P2 to P6 pupils who are in school should proceed to the School Hall/Skyline and begin silent reading by 7.15a.m. All pupils must be in the School Hall/Skyline before 7.25am. The bell will ring again at 7.25am and pupils entering the Hall/Skyline after that are considered late.       

 

 

5. Examination Policy

 

5.1    Pupils who are absent for any paper in an examination without a valid medical certificate will not be awarded any marks for the paper they missed.

 

5.2    Pupils are required to produce a valid medical certificate or other official document to explain their absence (valid reason) for a paper. The final marks will then be pro-rated.

 

5.3    There will be no arrangements made for pupils to take their exams on another day, except for oral, where a valid medical certificate has to be produced. Pupils with flu-like symptoms and temperature exceeding 37.6ºC will not be allowed to sit for the day’s paper.

 

5.4    Pupils caught cheating during tests/examinations will not be awarded any mark for the paper.

 

6. Learning Journeys and Activities Conducted Outside School

 

For learning journeys and any other activity that is conducted outside the school premises, teachers-in-charge will issue consent forms. These consent forms must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to the teacher-in-charge by the deadline stipulated. If a pupil fails to submit a signed consent form prior to the activity, the pupil will not be allowed to go for the activity. Verbal consent will not be accepted.

 

7. Vacation Leave

 

The school values curriculum time. Pupils are not allowed to take leave during term time to go on holiday. Parents are advised to plan vacation leave to coincide with school vacations. In addition, parents must submit a copy of the “Travel Declaration Form” to the school before bringing pupils for holiday.

 

8. Absenteeism / Truancy


All pupils are to take good care of their health and not be absent from school unless they are unwell/sick. Absentees must present a valid medical certificate or letter of explanation to their form teacher.



9. Movement In School


All pupils should move in a quiet and orderly manner at all times. They are to move according to their class in a single file / in twos and always keep to their left.



10. Recess Time


Food should be consumed ONLY in the canteen.

No playing and shouting is allowed around classrooms in Blocks B and C.

All pupils are to be at the designated assembly areas 5 minutes before the end of their recess.



11. Prohibited Items

        

Items that interfere with pupils’ learning are not to be brought to school:


i.     Electronic Audio Devices such as radios, CD/DVD players, iPod, MP3 players and game devices

ii.    Cards such as playing cards and trading cards

iii.   Toys such as toy guns and toy models

iv.   Pornographic materials, cigarettes and weapons

v.   Others such as magnets, chewing gum and sharp dangerous objects


* Any of the above items found will be confiscated.



12. Use of Handphones in school


12.1      If your child/ward needs to bring a handphone to school, only for the purpose of keeping in touch with family members, kindly write a formal letter of request to your child’s/ward’s Form Teacher. This letter should be written at the start of each new academic year.


12.2      At all times, the handphone must be switched off, including during remedial classes and enrichment classes. Pupils are not allowed to use the handphone in class.


12.3      If a child is found to be using the phone in class, the teacher may confiscate it.


12.4      The school reserves the right to check on the handphones.


12.5      The responsibility for loss or theft of the handphones rests with the pupils and parents. The school will not be responsible for the loss of any handphone.


12.6      The school reserves the right NOT to conduct any investigation to recover lost handphones. All handphone theft cases will be reported to the police if the school conducts investigations.


12.7      Any infringement of the rules will result in the handphones being confiscated. All teachers are given the authority to confiscate handphones.


12.8      All confiscated handphones will only be returned on the last day of the school term.

 

13. Unaccepted Acts


Offences that are dangerous and affect the school’s safe and conducive environment are not allowed. They include:


i.     Smoking, drug abuse and gambling of any form

ii.    Vandalism & Arson

iii.   Theft / Shoplifting / Gambling

iv.   Littering

v.    Abuse of technology

vi.   Eating in class


14. Unacceptable Behaviours


Offences that harm one’s relationship with another are not allowed. They include:


i.     Fighting/Assault

ii.    Bullying (Physical, Verbal, Cyber)

iii.   Extortion/Gangsterism

iv.   Rudeness, Disrespect and Open Defiance

v.    Outrage of modesty
